I reviewed all of the NEWS & ANALYSIS ON DEMAND for the date of October 5, 2010.

The first topic that came up was about a meeting for the first time of Chinas Primer and Japans Prime minister in Brussels. A Chinese fishing troller rammed Japanese cost guard ship, which lead Beijing to briefly suspend all high level communications with Tokyo.
This is world news that directly does not affect Australia.

Second topic is on the Australian Reserve Bank. Covering the news of it granting to let borrowers to leave their interest rates unchanged. Businesses in this country are still very slow as well as retailers. Mortgage holders are relieved that the rates of their loans have not increased. The Reserve bank may not be able to hold out this suspension for long and it is likely in November the rates will go up. The official cash rate is still at 4.50% but has lowered the Australian dollar one cent lower.
This directly affects Australian lenders, holder, business, retailers, and consumers. This will allow people to continue to spend, businesses to keep their current employers, loan holders to be able to continue making current payments, and the lender, well don’t make more money, but will most likely continue receiving payments.

Third: Troop Trip
Australia’s Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, shows her dedication to supporting the Australian troops in Afghanistan. Australian Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, is said to have declined his visit to the troops. He instead went to the UK Conference, but he could have done both as Gillard did. Gillard slightly made fun of the sleeping patters that Abbott has but confirms her commitment to the troops. Following that was a televised meeting between Gillard and Nato Secretary General, Andres Fogh Rassmusen, to join together and keep working on the economic shock. There was also a second meeting including Jose Manuel Barroso, European Commission President, for a treaty that there is much work to be done.
This news indirectly affects the people of Australia. Gillard is diligent to her responsibilities. She was able to make a successful visit to the Australian troops in Afghanistan and show her commitment to the people and those defending it. The fact that she also makes it to the Conference shows that she is able to prioritize and organize herself more successfully than Abbott.

Fourth: Global Consensus
Pakistani television has been showing a video filed on September 30, 2010 on the boarder with Afghanistan. It shows what appears to be a NATO helicopters attached Pakistan soldiers, three were killed and three were wounded. The Pakistani government has closed a key coalition gate to Pakistan from Afghanistan. The US State Department spokesman, Philip Corwley is “downplaying” this act of closing the gate. NATO has apologized for the venture in to Pakistan. They urge them to open up the gate so the people avoiding or getting away from Taliban may still do so. The US is working with Pakistan in regards to the closer so they can produce some time of results. For NATO they hope for sooner than later because of the fighting going on, on the other side of the boarder.
This clip is the first one that shows prejudice. The quote “downplaying” shows a bias coverage towards the United States in regards to this matter. This does not immediately affect the people of Australia. This is world news.

Common Grounds: China & UN Climate Change Conference
China needs financial and technological control. UN wants China to be it’s leader and wants China to reduce Beijing’s carbon emissions by half before 2020. The US agreed to also reduce their emissions.
This affects all countries, merly becase this is a international conference the UN is holding in Mexico to help the enviroment
