Wakeboarding is an up and coming sport. It's defined by ones love for the water, nature, and devotion to the outdoors. We will begin with some history on wakeboarding and what we know about wakeboarding in the west coast verses elsewhere. The goal is to find out how much is know about the sport and why. With collected data we anticipate to find the best ways to promote the sport and one day bring it to the Olympics.
I believe that the survey composed of 10 questions will help us better identify how we may better understand the public’s ideas on wakeboarding. The questions are as follow:
1. What is your gender?
2. What is your age?
3. Have you ever heard of wakeboarding?
4. Have you personally every wake boarded?
5. Have you seen a publication of Wakeboarding (Magazine, Media of any type, Advertising, Video, TV, Poster)?
6. Do you know of any water-ski or wake boat brands? Please list
7. Have you ever been on a boat? If yes, what kind, where, would you do it again?
8. Do you enjoy the outdoors? (Ex. Camping, Rafting, Skiing, Motocross, Snowboarding....) If Yes, Please specify.
9. How many people do you have to have on the boat in order to properly water-ski or wakeboard?
10. Would you be interested in learning or trying wakeboarding?
This questioner was build in a format to find links between what people like to do and wakeboarding. It seems that the art is under promoted, especially in the west coast, specifically California. California has an estimate 37 million people according to the Census bureau of 2009. What this means, is that there is a ridiculous amount of opportunity to make the Golden State one of the top places to wakeboard.
I believe that the survey will show that individuals know about the sport and want to learn about it. They find the means to do the sport difficult but would be willing to do it if they way an easier then actually owning your own boat.
Lets go over what wakeboarding is. By definition it is a sport of jumping boat's wake: a water sport in which somebody riding a single board is pulled behind a motor boat and performs jumps while crisscrossing the wake of the boat
Anyone who is athletic can successfully wakeboard. You must have cordination, strength, and durance to perform successfully...I stress the world successfully because anyone can wakeboard, but the idea of jumping the wake and learning tricks is an aquired skill you learn over practice, not necessarily time.
Let's analyze the results.
72.7% where women who responded to the survey
24 was the average age group of responces (21-54)
90.9% have heard wakeboarded
54.5% have never wakeboarded
77.3% have hear of some type of advertisment
2% could name a brand of waterski or wakeboarding boat
100% have been on a boat
100% enjoy the outdoors
36% knew the right number of people it takes to properly ski or wakeboard (3)
77.3% are interested in learing about or trying wakeboarding and the rest said maybe
What this means is that there is a vast opportunity for the sport to grow. The general public enjoys the outdoors and there are different levels of wakeboarding that is fun for all ages. I would have to set up a different survey to see how we can get people to enjoy the sport. But my hypothesis was correct, that people know what it is and would like to do it.
Why do we care? For many reasons. This is either a completitive sport, a group activity that excercises your mind and body, a family sport, a hobby...ect. Anything that requires you to get out, get some fresh air, and enjoy mother nature is good for you. The more people know about wakeboarding the healthier an individual can be!

Hate Speech
Obama has been compared as a Antichrist. Why we may think? Well you have to examine the religions that do not believe that the leader of the United States should be anything but an American, but specifically "white man". Would they think the same if we had a woman elected? Guess we'll have to find out.
There are TV personalities, pastors (Steven Anderson, the pastor of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Arizona, preached a sermon last month entitled "Why I hate Barack Obama", in which he declared, "I'm going to pray he dies and goes to hell".
), and other speakers are slandering Obama and using their freedom of speach to boarder line the assertions to create a possible action by someone to create damage. Damage towards Obama or his family, however that may be.
Example quote given, "I'd take a gun to Washington if enough of you would go with me."
This could potentially cause damage if and when there really are follwers to the statement.
Our tax money donates to the secret service that is provided to the President. Because of these potentially damaging coments, Obama has the most money banked for use of secret service, in his defence. Protecting our president of the United States.
As society changes, we need to change with it. We can keep our beliefs but in the end we must accept the change, for change can be good.

Is Hate Speech in the Media DIretly Affecting Our Culture?
Issue 12
In this issue the authors Henry A. Giroux and Georgie Ann Weatherby & Brian Scoggins quarrel over the way "hate speechs" are masked in media today. This is done by entertainment, humor, and manipulate beliefs. This masked hate is what makes extremist groups successful. In the First Amendment their is a freedom of speach, but the internet leaves our freedom far behond what the consitution states.
First Amendment – Establishment Clause, Free Exercise Clause; freedom of speech, of the press, and of assembly; right to petition
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Yes: Henry A. Giroux - Living in a Culture of Cruelty: Democracy as Spectacle
The issue of day to day life can be seen to have shifted to a society that measures the worth of human life in terms of cost-benefit analyses. With the economy today it is not only as working to get ahead but its a daily stuggle to survive. There is a growing dominance of the right-wing.
right wing
1. conservative: those members of a group or political party who hold more conservative views than the others
The masked hate is also evident in video games such as "Grand Theft Auto", television shows such as "24". There are also pornographic glorification of glamorized violence, fantasy, and escapism, this can be seen on "Dexter" which is on HBO and portrays serial killers. On YouTuve in July 2009 the author presents that over 85K videos with 'bum' in the title and over 5K of 'bum fighting'.

Are U.S. candidates more or less aggressive in advertisement when it comes to running for office in regards to elections in 1994, 2002, and 2010?
I am an advertisement consultant studying the campaigning for candidates.
When it comes to each of those years does the popular group (Republican or Democrat) have any influence on the way candidates advertise their campaign.
I will create a slide show with Power Point in order to display the graphs properly. I will show bar graphs to display the difference in each year. The object is to first see if advertisement has grown in any of these campaign years and how. In my research I have comprised a list of what types of advertisements there are:

Do Media Dause Individuals to Develop Negative Body Images?
Issue 4
Is a healthy body attainable? Yes it is...but what is the cost? Women and Men both the same when it comes to attaining their ideal body image...more like what the body image should be. So buying products, services, and pampering yourself is the way to do it. Is it? "Fat becomes someting to be reared, and grooming practices and fashion are "sold" as imperatives for both men and women." Socially, behaviorally, and culturally, we all have issues, is it okay to blame media, is it their fault? Lets look further into body images and see if media causes individuals to develop negative body images.
Lets look specifically into magazines...
YES: Shari L. Dworkin and Faye Linda Wachs
Until recently the the male appearance was less important and their link was towards status, societal position, or power. The womens in turn was a desire to attaract an object. She is also an object linked to emotion and nature. Today women in social power, sports, and fitness have grown. Now the focus on both men and women is in line.
Fat is problematic. The diet industry is now worth some $58.7 billion. For men the focus is on striations and cuts underneath such as the famous 6-pack moving its way to the "even healthier" 8-pack. For women it is the decrease of fat for a "cellulite-free" form. There are so many types of fat loosing programs and regime that promise that you will loose it. The fat free fit look is can also be refered to as a status symbol. In order to maintain the ideal physique it requires significant time and money. For both men and women it is a continuous fight to attain the image that is in the magazine. We will prepare the foods, do the work outs, buy the products, go to the spa, do that sport, just so we can "fit in" and not look like FAT is taking over our lives and we can not live it to its potential.
NO: Michael P. Levine and Sarah K. Murnen
Body dissatisfaction, the drive to be thin, and eating disorders can't all be the mass media. Mass media is a mean to provide informaition, motivation, and provide products that can help you attain a goal.
1.) Women are naturally invested in their beauty assets and thus beauty is a woman's principal project in life
2.) A slender, youthful attractive "image" is really someting substantiv, because it is pleasing to males and it demonstrates to females that one is in control of one's life
3.) Leaning to perceive, monitor, and indeed experience yourself as the object of an essentially masculine gaze is an important part of being feminine and beutiful.
There is slim to non when it comes to correlating image related health issues with media. The most vulnerable girls may be subject to this.
With that being said there are still questions that remain.

Are U.S. candidates more or less aggressive in advertisement when it comes to running for office in regards to 2010 elections verses the elections in 2000 and 1990s? In comparison to those three time frames, does the popular group (Republican or Democrat) have any influence on the way candidates advertise their campaign.
In order to gather a quantitative answer, I will use a graph and create a system of points to compare the 3 years chosen: 1990, 2000, and 2010.
The object is to first see if advertisement has grown in any of these campaign years and how. Secondly, I will select specific position, for example governor, and choose a state, to find out how advertisement has changed over time. Thirdly I will then take the prior information gathered to see if there is a correlation between the advertisement styles and the leading party. The leading party is determined by how many seats in the house either Republicans or Democrats have.
My hypothesis is that advertisement for candidates have become more aggressive over time. By being more aggressive, I mean that they choose to no use facts to bring down their opponent, but instead use satire, emotions, false-truths, and quantity of times the advertisement is shown. I believe the new technology such as the use of tweeter has enabled more confrontational candidates. As to whether or not the leading party plays a role in this, I’m not quite sure. I would presume that a larger Democratic party would be the invitation for a liberal expressions and ideals rather than if Republicans were the larger group.
Method for investigation will be online. This is the easiest way to gather data, watch old commercials and ads, and find statistics and numbers with credible sources quickly. By finding out if there is a correlation, we may better understand the direction that politicians will be taking in the future to gain votes and how they get lazy voters to hit the poles every November 2nd.
Steps:
1.) Find 3 positions that were most controversial as area of focus.
Use the 3 positions selected to link them to a state of focus.
How many Republicans/Democrats voted (within the criteria selected)?
1990? 2000? 2010?
(This means that for each year selected there will be 3 chosen candidates and their respective location (state/ national))
2.) Watch 5 advertisement segments from each of the positions selected.
Take notes on how many times they use Substantive Coverage, Hype, and Humor.
Create a 5 scale system for each to determine the usage and numerical data.
3.) For each year selected, what is the leading party of the state?
4.) Is there a correlation between any of the data collected?

Do Video Games Encourage Violent Behavior?
Unit 2, Issue 5, Page 92
We explore the world of video games and how they have changed over the years. Craig Anderson believes that young people are prompted to be more aggresive and violent when it comes to video games, more so than other media sources. Henry Jenkins argues that it is a misconception and that there is no correlation between violence and video games.
It seems that the issue might arrise that the youth today is less morally responsible, conservative, and judgemental about the relationship of media in reagards to fiction or non.
Yes: Violent Video Games: Myths, Facts, and Unanswered Questions- Craig A. Anderson
There are four types of evidence that prove this face: laboratory experiments, field experiments, cross-selectional correlation studies, and longitudinal studies. The 90's was the launch of creating ultimate realistic, violent, and cyberly competitive gaming. Video games went from fun and educational to fun and aggresive. This can be seen by the movie clips that are desined to move the story along and such as Grand Theft Auto, were you aquire points for killing innocent bystanders.
Myths and Facts
Myth 1. Violent video game research has yielded very mixed results: FACTS;
Using combined sources of evidence, there can be found links to increased aggressive behavior, thoughts, and affect; increased physiological arousal; and decreased prosocial behavior.
Myth 2. The studis that find significant effects are the weakest methodologically
This method has yielded the largest effect.
Myth 3. Laboratory experients are irrelevant: FACTS;
Example given is that variables know to influcene real world aggression and violence have the same effects on laboratory measures of aggression.
Myth 4. Field experiements are irrelevant or are normal play behaviors: FACT.
Myth 5. Correlational studies are irrelevant
Myth 6. There are no studies linking violent video game play to serious aggression. FACTS; High exposure of such types of video games have been linked to fighting at schools during free play periods.
Myth 7. Violent video games affect only a small fraction of players.
Myth 8. Unrealistic video game violence is completely safe fro adolescents.
Myth 9. The effects of violent video games are trivially small. FACTS; Meta-analyses reveal that violent video games affect a size larger than that of second hand tabacco smoke on lung cancer.
Myth 10. ARousal, not vilent content, accounts for video game induced increases in aggression.
Myth 11. If violent video games cause increases in aggression, violent crive rates in the U.S. would be increasing instead of decreasing. FACTS; Media violence in only one of the many factors that contribute to violence in society.
There are still studies missing that link the habitual violent video game exposure an later aggression. Also the corelation between the effect that television has verses video games.
NO: Reality Bytes: Eight Myths about Video Games Debunked- Henry Jenkins
According to federal crime statistics the rate of juvenile violent crime in the US is at a 30-year low. There is also a study with this that shows that usually the juveniles have consumed less media before commiting their crimes in a comparison of typically media consumers. Mental stability is te key factor when it comes to hostile kids and not media exposure.
Jenkins argues that most research that relate violence to video games are studies that are inconclusive, mainly because they are done at minor scales. 90% of children have played or play video games. The number that is currently growing are young adults over 18 years of age as well as female payers. The Federal Trade Commission has found that 83 percent of game purchases for underage consumers are done by their parents or parents with their children.
There are so many different types of video game styles and many are useful for learning and have meaningful means for individuals to express themselves. He gives the example of Sims game designed by Will Wright, In movies, one can always pull back and condemn the character. But when it comes to playing video games one choices the fate of the character, which in turn can encourage a person to examine their own values. 60% of gamers play with a friend(s). 25% play with spouses or parents.

Personally, I feel that it is up to the parent to determine what is sutable for their child play. Maturity level plays a key role in what they can play.

Are People Better Informed in the Information Society?
Issue 18 - Unit 6
The lifestyle we are living, has changed. Can we say it's for better or for worst, who knows? We move into a media feed society, where technology rules all. Do we have too many choices? Lets go back when people use to ready the morning news paper and take their moment, to begin the day with knowledge, relaxed, breakfast was still the most important meal of the day. That is knowlege, that is an informed society. Years gone by, now the radio feeds us information. We go about our day working and listening to information. But with that how well are we really paying attention to what is being said, will be be able to recall or simply recognize? Travel years later past television, past internet, we reach today. A society where it would be uncommon for at least 90% of the people you interact with have a phone, or some time of information collecting device. Are we still really informed? Yes, but now we select what we want to listen to and what we like. Dictionary.com defines informed as having or prepared with information or knowledge. Therefore we can all be informed, but personally returning back the days were liturature was more informative than internet, we were smarter, our brains needed to containe more informaiont. The fact that we had to reasearch something in a library is being informed. We've beome lazy. Always on the go. Contradictory may seem, not really, we physically are lazy and society has make us honey bees...work work work work....now when do I get to play? Whats is the realy price for being informed as an individual and as a society???

Is Advertising Good for Society?
John Calfee who agrees that Advertising is good for society, tells us that this benefits consumers. Advertising creates competition that allows for conpetetive pricing and bargans. Dinyar Godrej on the other hand believes that advertising can be seen as a pretty way to lie. The images and ideas that advertising portray are usually not the outcome of the product.
Yes: John E. Calfee
Advertising induces consumers towards wanting the product of service. The want being the key word, because ususally we don't need advertisment for things we truely need in our day to day lives. Calfee in a some states that comsumers knowing what the purpose is of advertisment there is significant data that implies we are still very critical and suspicious of what advertisers say and do.
How useful is advertising?
Advertising is not only to identify a products specific benefit, but it can provide a large amount of information that may beneifit all parties other than the advertiser. There is a goal to achieve credibility through advertising stimulating research neccessary. The example given was that of The National Cancer Institute and Kellogg Corporation. Combinging their advertising power for the better health of society. "The National Cancer Institute believes a high fiber low fat diet may reduce your risk of somke kinds of cancer..." The link was made from studies by the NCI that high-fiber was liked to cancer, which meant Kellog's All-Bran line was a healthy choice to a healther body. In this case Advertisment benifit all. This started a popularity of firms sponsoring reasearch on their products anticipating persuasive advertising claims of their product being a needed benefit. "Sellers focused on the information that favored their own products...the benefits to consumers arose from the imperatives of the competitive process." Advertising is expensive, therefore they push in the beneficial ideals in the short amount of time, with any warning information listed in small letters. This creates "Less-bad advertising". For example the logos reading "less fat, less dangerous, and so on". In all there will always be products can are better because advertisment makes them out to be as cigarettes do with their camel. The journey of Camels advertisment lead to other cigarette brands to lead a continued journey of "less-bad" product. As did Advil when Tylenol in 1996 was reported to cause liver damage in heavy drinkers. In all advertiment is a way to spread that bad in the good, but in the end its to benefit the comsumer and add competition to the free market.

How the Ad Industry Pins Us Down
Gordrej begins with bold statement, "Advertising is invovled in soul fraud instead". Advertisment isn't to provide product or service information to consumers, it is a vicious platform to induce dreams, emotions, and virtues. Would we really pay attention to Ads if their were only words and not images? I don't think so...The slogan for Sprite (owned by Coca-Cola) wasn't wrong when they proclaimed: 'Image is nothing thirst is evertything'. Trial and error make advertisment successful. Mass advertising is a game to push the smaller companies off the stage. The game is played with tricks, money, and ultimatly control or a media channel. Adverting leads to portray that a wanted lifestyle is beyond the reach of all except for the wealthy. This leads to a greedy and materialistic society. Following this you'll find and Ad seeking donations for animals or inpovered children, but what you don't see is it foul play, or sincere. Deny them that privlilage Godrej says. Don't let the images become a part of our lives "The distorting mirow will need to shatter first before a floating world comes into view."

Dear CNN
http://www.cnn.com/feedback/
October 13, 2010
Dear CNN,
I would like to begin by congratulating the team on a site well built. The viewer is able to quickly locate the search bar, view tabs with different categories, and immediately there after provide a selection of vides of current events. The three are important to today’s growing society of interactive media and less motivated voters. The combination of a strong, organized, and informative website is much needed to enable our recall and recognition of information easier.
The ease of locating the search bar on a news link is critical in keeping a viewer logged on to your site longer. In your CNN/ Opinion Research Corp. survey last week it appears that only a third of Democrats are enthusiastic about voting this year. With that being stated if a news site can’t provide an easy way for a voter to find information the third may soon become a fourth. I was able to type in a key word (ex: Meg Whitman) and not only did I get a hit on the actual topic but also other topics outlining the category. I personally tend to be a selective ready, so this feature helps me view other interesting controversy between my search and related topics. A comment on http://www.epinions.com about CNN reads, “…and best of all it is so very easy to navigate your way through all of it!”
Next the tabs and sub-categories that our outlined and in bold. Navigation to these areas is easy with contrasting colors, no pop-ups, and few advertisement that is not distracting. My favorite part of your main page within the Edition: US Home page would have to be the twelve categories you provide towards the bottom of the page with bullet points of topics within those categories. With this being said on October 12, 2010 I reviewed the Political category. CNN’s views appear fair, informative, and provide substantive content with little humor and hype where needed. In an article published on http://www.news-ratings.com/cnn, they write that CNN is “…written by professionals, as they cover essential topics…” “CNN.com is among the world's leaders in online news and information delivery.”
The ratio of video, audio, and writing also helps a less motivated voter easily familiarize themselves with the site. Throughout the videos I viewed there is credibility lying within the sources you provide. This as you know is extremely important as it not only provides a trust between the reader and viewers, but become a source for less educated voters to educate themselves on what their community, state, government, and overall society is about.
In all the team of over 4000 professionals that make CNN come together is doing a great job. Keep up the good work in providing voters like myself an easy and interactive way of gaining information. Easy search, clear topics, and supporting videos all make CNN one of the top choices in news of our world today, tomorrow, and the future.

CNN U.S as my chosen Media Outlet
I haven't chosen what stories exactly I will be covering, but I do know that I will focus on California Politics. My focus will be to look into articles pertaining to Meg Whitman, Jerry Brown, Barbera Boxer, and similar candidates. I will be watching their videos and reading the reports.
Commonwealth Games
This is an international, multi-sport even that is held every four years. The games includ thousands of elite nations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_members_of_the_Commonwealth_of_Nations).
In the games they play sports similar to the ones used in the Olympics as well as lawn bowls (Bowls is a sport in which the objective is to roll slightly asymmetric balls, called bowls, so that they stop close to a smaller—normally white—bowl called the "jack" or "kitty". Bowls, either flat- or crown-green, is usually played outdoors, on grass and synthetic surfaces. Flat-green bows can also be played indoors on synthetic surfaces.), rugby sevens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_sevens) and netball (Netball is a ball sport played between two teams of seven players. The sport shares many similarities with basketball, having been derived from early versions of women's basketball.).
The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), which also controls the sporting programme and selects the host cities. The first even was held in 1930. There are currently 54 members of the Commonwealth of Nations, and 71 teams participate in the Games.
This information was found on good ol' wiki :)

International Press: http://australianetwork.com
http://australianetworknews.com/
I reviewed all of the NEWS & ANALYSIS ON DEMAND for the date of October 5, 2010.
The first topic that came up was about a meeting for the first time of Chinas Primer and Japans Prime minister in Brussels. A Chinese fishing troller rammed Japanese cost guard ship, which lead Beijing to briefly suspend all high level communications with Tokyo.
This is world news that directly does not affect Australia.
Second topic is on the Australian Reserve Bank. Covering the news of it granting to let borrowers to leave their interest rates unchanged. Businesses in this country are still very slow as well as retailers. Mortgage holders are relieved that the rates of their loans have not increased. The Reserve bank may not be able to hold out this suspension for long and it is likely in November the rates will go up. The official cash rate is still at 4.50% but has lowered the Australian dollar one cent lower.
This directly affects Australian lenders, holder, business, retailers, and consumers. This will allow people to continue to spend, businesses to keep their current employers, loan holders to be able to continue making current payments, and the lender, well don’t make more money, but will most likely continue receiving payments.
Third: Troop Trip
Australia’s Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, shows her dedication to supporting the Australian troops in Afghanistan. Australian Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, is said to have declined his visit to the troops. He instead went to the UK Conference, but he could have done both as Gillard did. Gillard slightly made fun of the sleeping patters that Abbott has but confirms her commitment to the troops. Following that was a televised meeting between Gillard and Nato Secretary General, Andres Fogh Rassmusen, to join together and keep working on the economic shock. There was also a second meeting including Jose Manuel Barroso, European Commission President, for a treaty that there is much work to be done.
This news indirectly affects the people of Australia. Gillard is diligent to her responsibilities. She was able to make a successful visit to the Australian troops in Afghanistan and show her commitment to the people and those defending it. The fact that she also makes it to the Conference shows that she is able to prioritize and organize herself more successfully than Abbott.
Fourth: Global Consensus
Pakistani television has been showing a video filed on September 30, 2010 on the boarder with Afghanistan. It shows what appears to be a NATO helicopters attached Pakistan soldiers, three were killed and three were wounded. The Pakistani government has closed a key coalition gate to Pakistan from Afghanistan. The US State Department spokesman, Philip Corwley is “downplaying” this act of closing the gate. NATO has apologized for the venture in to Pakistan. They urge them to open up the gate so the people avoiding or getting away from Taliban may still do so. The US is working with Pakistan in regards to the closer so they can produce some time of results. For NATO they hope for sooner than later because of the fighting going on, on the other side of the boarder.
This clip is the first one that shows prejudice. The quote “downplaying” shows a bias coverage towards the United States in regards to this matter. This does not immediately affect the people of Australia. This is world news.
Common Grounds: China & UN Climate Change Conference
China needs financial and technological control. UN wants China to be it’s leader and wants China to reduce Beijing’s carbon emissions by half before 2020. The US agreed to also reduce their emissions.
This affects all countries, merly becase this is a international conference the UN is holding in Mexico to help the enviroment

Fox appears to have slightly monopolized the possible republicans. The only possible candidate that is not part of the Fox affiliation is Mitt Romney. This frustrates competitors such as NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC.
Being Fox I wouldnt worry up until they potential candidates are official. At that point Fox should not be the only covering the candidates. There should be as much information out to the general public with outbsiding left or right winged.

~Will Evolving Forms of Journalism Be an Improvement~
Yes: Preparing for an Age of Participatory News
Participatory meaning that the news is know expressed and viewed not only by professionals but also by amateurs.
The new modality of organizing production: radically decentralized, collaborative, and non proprietary.
The two-tiers that developed participatory news is part of a convergence process: between top-down and bottom-up journalism.
Culture-based participatory news usually emerge from institutions and organizations with a need for public service agenda. There are able to clarify, inform, or gather believers by their platform of local news.
"In each instance a professional media organization (top-down) partners with or deliberately taps into the emerging participatory media culture online (bottom-up) in order to produce some kind of co-creative, commons-based news platform."
Bluffton Today: American
This source is a combination of a free daily newspaper and community news website. This source is a hybrid between professional and amateur participatory news. Its particular goal is to become a part of the daily conversations that people share rather than technological convergence. They want the people of Bluffton to become players in this coverage of news not just users or readers of it. They encourage the participative culture to evolve.
Authentic Life Stories: German
The website Opinio tends to skip over subjects such as economy and politics and focusing its program on everyday living and leisure-time activities. The target group is between 30-39 years of age and don't necessarily read the newspapers anymore.
Former project manager, Torsten Casimi, believes that the motivation behind this publicly authored site is the hopes of having one of their stories printed. The bad part was that at one point they had so many registered users that the site had seem to have no regards for substance.
Provoking Debate: Australian
The On Line Opinion is discussed to be most similar to the US website MediaChannel. It covers news in it's point of view as well as covering mainstream media. This site is composed of staff writers and invited commentators. this site plays an important role in Australian politics. The site provides a middle ground for deliberation, reporting and politics.
"...Bridge the gap between mainstream and alternative, and thus perhaps between (top-down) editorially controlled and (bottom-up) editorially controlled and (bottom-up) open news media, are to some extent perhaps forced to reflect this intermediary position in their editorial practices."
No: Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation Subcommittee on Communications Technology, and the Internet Hearing on the Future of Journalism, May 6, 2009.
News media is the future of online in which democratization in news gathering will always take place. But by this new era of news online the writer expresses then end to High-end journalism and once it is completely gone it can never be reborn again.
"...the parasite is slowly killing the host."
High-end journalism is describe as a profession of men and women trained to gather, regather, and review substantial information to be publicised. To be a journalist signified a full-time commitment and made a living off of being smart and talented to challenge views and opinions of society.
"...my industry butchered itself and we did so at the behest of Wall Street and the same unfettered, free-market logic that has proved so disastrous for so many American industries."
At journalisms peak the Television became it's largest treat with immediacy.
David Simons believes that yes, it ti harsh to cut down tree's to make a daily newspaper. But if the industry is going onine then there should be a charge for viewing the information. The problem here is that the internet is a found platform for free information. His emphasised that everything costs money in regards to a good news report, including flights, photography, and hiring the best.
"Media lieteracty refers to the ability to analyze a d evaluate the media messages within our society."

Upstart Candidate Beats GOP- Bacled Congressman in Delaware Senate Primary
What a difference and lack of attention span I had after watching the Daily Show. I should have watched this one first. They go into the details about the Senate Primary. This coverage includes Castle going after O'Donnell personally no so much politically. This show seems to have a less bias and informative. Giving numbers and details.

Does Fake News Mislead the Public
Fewer than 20 per cent of today's youth invest time in reading the daily newspaper. Around 60 per cent gather their current news from the television. The new generation has a declining audience when it comes to political affairs. Unfortunately this has repercussions such as less interest in voting, care less about the system, and not to mention know less of the political system.
Barry A. Hollander, who believes that fake news does not mislead the public, discusses the difference between recognition memory and recall. With recall the person who is answering would simply know the answer. With recognition simply requires one to recognize facts from a list.
Yes ~ No Joke ~
In 2004 the election turnouts were at it's all time high after 30 decades.
Media Dependency Theory
"It is critically important to examine the content of mediated political communication as such information may well be used as the basis for political knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors."
The Daily Show with Jon Stevart as a Source of Campaign Information
As a result of voters under the age of 30 increase in the 2004 election, there is a need for broadcasting to shift in the direction that "appalled" to them the most. News has created an area of comedy and information such as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
I find that with my lifestyle the late night shows are a great way to gather news. Some times the news can lead to rough sleep because it can be so negative and violent, while the comical side can joyfully give you the information one needs. At that point it is up to you to see out additional information on topic that you find the most interesting.
Broadcast Television Network News as a Source of Campaign Information
In the year 2000, television took over the broadcasting. It is shown that the more hype a topic has the more it will surpass the network feeding you more substance than simply what is popular. This has become more and more true since the 1970's.
Concept Operationalization
Includes categories for humor, meta-concept categorized by the concepts of joking and laughing.
Reliability
Pearson correlation coefficients r = .0998 or higher
Pearson correlation coefficients r = .975 or higher
Discussion
We can safely say that it is better to have an individual consume soft news than no news at all. But it is argued by Holland survey found that the late-night shows were unrelated to the general knowledge of a particular campaign. Usually a viewer is more turned on by a positive and humours scenario then a serious, maybe even mono-toned news casting, regardless if the information.
Late- Night Learning ~ NO~
-Television Talk Shows
-Dramas
-Situation Comedies
-Police Drama's
-Political content of late-night comedy shows
All are form of late night shows that provide news in some form of way.
The more educated the citizens are and remain the better the foundation and the overall success of the society. An educated citizen in regards to political and social issues will more likely vote and in a Democratic society it is crucial.
Television can be seen as a means that requires less cognitive efforts therefore resulting in reduced learning when it is compared to print. Recall requires more cognitive efforts thank recognition. To recall something would have meant that at one point you would have had to memorize the topic.
Entertainment Media and Politics
The assumption is that a person who watches late night comedy news shows is really less interested in the politics and more interested in the humor. This can be true because if they were more interested in the precise facts and depth of a topic they would have read the news paper, watched an actual broadcasting, or regular evening news. Problem we could say with that is that if they are left or right wing, or are they neutral at all?
Results
The modern American will more than likely be able to name a lat-night comedian or their respective show than a broadcasters name. This type of person will also usually seek out additional sources to find their areas of interest.
My Conclusion
Fake news can mislead the public that is unaware of the reality. Because media is able to manipulate ideas, thoughts, and bias a person should always seek out additional sources. The newspaper is usually the best place to go. If not a local news chanel. Find a media source that fits your ideals and follow it, but don't forget to always read the other side. One side is not always better thank the other and at one point you may find one that has more substance than the other.

Arizona Immigration Law
The governor's signature on House Bill 2162 modifies a measure signed into law by Brewer last week that requires police to inquire about the immigration status of anyone they reasonable suspect to be in the country illegally. Barring a successful legal challenge, the law goes into effect July 29....The bill also clarifies that law-enforcement shall inquire about the immigration status only of those they "stop, detain or arrest." The earlier bill simply said "contact". The change is designed to allay fears of officers would have to examine the papers of anyone they spoke to, including crime victims and witnesses.
#2: Fox (Glen Beck TV) vs. MSNBC (Rachel Maddow Show)
Fox: Glen Beck (Main Advertisement: Gold Line)
~Rev. Al Sharpton~
I have probably heard or seen this show before but never really payed attention to it.
I chose to watch 2 different clips of his show and the first is on Rev. Al Sharpton.
The first thing that came to my mind is sarcastic. He sounds like he knows what he is talking about, but seems to always be putting a negative slant on everything.
On this topic was on a rally that Beck had and apparently he did or said something to have Rev. Al disagree. Beck is saying that people of faith and them helping charity. He was judged as being "mantel of a religious leader." He is not, or so he claims. His show is bases on the idea of Faith, Hope, and Charity.
MSNBC: The Rachel Maddow Show
~Political strategy for hard times: scapegoating~
She is discussing Republican John Boehner wanting the voters to agree with the bail out. To do another bail out would further deficit our funds by 4.2 Trillion. John Boehner is also called the Soft Target.
Republicans are campaigning against policies that they supported. As Democrats want to give millions of dollars even thought they say they are fiscally conservative.
Voters in the mid term election will usually vote against the party of the president to show there disagreement.
The Democrats then are left with the GOB and also for example the Tea Party.
Just watching one clip from each show, I would prefer to watch the Rachal Maddow Show.
I feel her show has more consistency and is less bias but more based on facts. I can find my self listening to this at least once a week to help me understand more about the November election that is coming up.
